To have computers connected to both routers (main and secondary) and co-exist in the same subnet, set up DD-WRT as a Client Bridge, Repeater Bridge or use WDS. Further explanation of bridging modes is at Linking Routers. If using a multi-band router, do not set more than one band to CB. The other radio(s) would normally be set as AP. For Access Point (AP) instructions. A secondary router on the same subnet, so all wireless and wired network devices can access each other. Consequently, DD-WRT can claim the largest community of users. It's the backbone of what we do here at FlashRouters.

Version 24 of DD‐WRT firmware has a wireless mode that is used for mesh networking called Wireless Distributed System (WDS). WDS AP can connect to multiple other nodes and forward packets between them. WDS station is an end node of the mesh network.

Take note of the MAC address. You will need to enter this information in the Remote AP list of the Primary Router. 3. Set the same frequency as in the Primary Router(here is 5GHz), and select the AP Mode as Hybrid or WDS mode.Hybrid mode used to both wired and wireless clients while WDS mode used to wireless clients only. 4. It seems almost impossible to find an AP that does PoE passthrough, and DLink’s own DAP-3320 that replaced this does not do it. Left long enough the speed on the unit will degrade quite considerably, with a reboot needed to fix it. Anyway, it appears DD-WRT is compatible with this AP, according to this. However there is no mention, and it May 10, 2020 · DD-WRT is an open-source router firmware upgrade project created to enhance the performance and features of consumer wireless routers. It is used by many networking-savvy users to enhance wireless router stability, privacy, and (most importantly) network security.

The 862L will reboot every few hours (setup to reboot if it loses connection from the main router, checks every 5 min). If I disable the 5GHz interface on the 862L, it becomes very stable.
