EXPERT ADVICE Check the icmp settings of windows Start>>Run>>firewall.cpl>>Advanced>>Click "Settings" under ICMP the only option that should be checked is "Allow incoming echo request", hope this helps Feb 18, 2014 · i have two routerscisco router(1841) A and cisco router(1841) B..router A is connected to my switch 2950(192.168.2.90/24), through fa0/0 port with ip address(192.168.2.1/24). my fa0/1 port on router A i gave an ip addr (192.168.3.1/30) to enable me connect to router through port fa0/0 with ip address (192.168.3.2/30). i can ping both routers but the problem is i cant ping router B from first assumption would be is that a firewall is blocking the ICMP (ping) from the internet second assumption is, your linksys router is configured not to reply to ICMP request coming from the WAN interface (internet side - the less secured side). you can check how your linksys router is configured. this kind of setup is seen as a default on other devices like firewalls as this is done for I am trying to set up communication across a network, and I have run into a bit of a problem. In the diagram below, why is it that I cannot ping host 2 from host 1? Router 1 has interfaces on both
The first test you need to make for a router is to ping it, or send it a signal that proves not only that the router is there but also that your computer is connected to the router and that all communications are taking place in a friendly manner. To send the router a friendly ping, follow these steps:
You have set the router's IP to 192.168.254.254 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. In order to ping, access the WMI, do the network scan, etc. your workstation has to have an IP address in the 192.168.254.x range. If it is not in this range, you can either set the address to be in this range or set it to obtain an IP address automatically. Your modem is a router. You have chained two routers. Your external IP address is on the modem and your are trying to ping or connect to your modem not the E2000. Any port forwarding on the E2000 is futile as long as there is not a matching forwarding on the modem. Make sure the Internet IP address of the router is a public IP address. If it is something like 192.168.*.* your modem most likely works as router as well. In this case you must either configure the modem in bridge mode and setup the internet connection on your router or you have to configure the modem to answer the pings.
